Description
CK 5/32″ 2% Lanthanated Tungsten Electrodesdeliver superior arc starting and consistent performance for DC welding applications across carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The 2% lanthanum oxide additive provides excellent arc initiation at lower amperages while maintaining electrode tip integrity under demanding shop conditions.
Lanthanated tungsten electrodes offer several advantages over pure tungsten, including reduced tip erosion, better arc stability, and lower operating temperatures. The 5/32″ diameter makes these electrodes ideal for heavy-duty welding applications requiring higher amperage ranges.

Welding Performance Notes
Amperage Range:150-400 amps DC depending on joint configuration and material thickness. For precision work on thin materials, operate at the lower end of the range (150-200 amps). Heavy structural welding can utilize the full 400-amp capacity with proper heat management.
Arc Characteristics:2% lanthanated tungsten provides excellent arc starting at low amperages with minimal electrode preparation required. The lanthanum additive reduces work function, allowing for easier electron emission and more stable arc plasma compared to pure tungsten.
Electrode Preparation:Grind to a sharp point for DC welding applications. Maintain grinding direction parallel to electrode axis to prevent contamination and ensure optimal current flow.
These electrodes excel in production welding environments where consistent arc performance and extended electrode life are critical for maintaining productivity and weld quality standards.
